Welcome to Meninos Oldham, the North West's most inspirational youth percussion and dance group.

Meninos Oldham is for you!
We offer FREE (yes, free!) sessions in Brazilian percussion, dance and capoeira (the famous Brazilian martial art based dance) for young people at the Gallery Oldham (click on 'information' for directions).
Meninos Oldham is a youth organisation and is for young people aged 7 to 18 only.
Meninos Oldham offers a wide programme of creative activities to suit all abilities, all you need is enthusiasm! No previous experience required as you will be looked after and taught by experienced and talented musicians, dance tutors and choreographers from the UK and Brazil. Everyone is really friendly and the classes are delivered in a very accessible and relaxed way, with plenty of support from existing band members and youngsters who are developing their own creative skills. After coming along to our sessions, you will have the opportunity to perform with Meninos Oldham at all of our gigs across the UK!

6pm-7pm BEGINNERS' CLASS.
The drumming class offers the chance to try out a variety of different instruments and learn about different world music traditions and cultures while having fun and improving skills and co-ordination. Tuition is provided by a number of professional tutors with support from young band members. This class takes place upstairs on the 2nd floor of Gallery.
Potential dancers can try out a mixture of Brazilian moves mixed with funky street dance in Adriana Rosso's class, downstairs in the theatre space at the back of the library.
We recommend that you arrive ten minutes before the class is due to start so you have plenty of time to find your way to the right class and meet the tutor.
Meninos Oldham also run an Intermediate class between 7pm and 8pm, and beginners are welcome to come and observe the class to get more of a feel for what we do. In many cases, beginners are quickly moved up to the intermediate class and invited to stay from 6pm until 8pm in order to develop their skills and knowledge even more.
At 8pm until 9pm, everyone from the performance group gets together to rehearse, which is definitely something worth watching and the group blasts through an intensive and energetic routine of drumming and dance. New members are welcome to come and observe this class at any time.
